One-to-One Grief Support
At Chilliwack Hospice Society, we welcome you with a dedicated space and professional staff who help guide you through the tangled processes of grief and loss that accompany dying and death. Our staff will ask questions designed to prompt you to explore your experiences with grief, provide space and quiet for reflection, and answer questions or concerns that you may have.
Anticipatory grief and bereavement are complex and multi-dimensional; these experiences can be confusing and frustrating for many people. Sometimes it is hard to talk to the people closest to you; connecting with someone who won’t judge, listens intently, and helps to make sense of things is validating and reassuring. Anyone can benefit from this support.
Anyone who is experiencing the dying process or death of a loved one is welcome. Our professionals provide supports for children, youth, and adults. It does not matter when or how the death occurred, or how you are connected to the death.
We offer six one-to-one sessions to everyone, and can extend these services on a case-by-case basis. All our services are free of charge. No referral is required; just give us a call or send an email. Our sessions are available in-person and via telephone or Zoom. In a session, you may choose to sit and talk, go for a walk, or experiment with art supplies. Flexible appointment times are available to accomodate busy schedules. You can also bring a friend or loved one for some reassurance if it helps. There is no obligation to return for all six sessions; some people find that one session is enough while others will come and go over a period of time, and others will join a support group. These are options that you can discuss with our staff.
This Chilliwack Hospice Society program is provided free of cost thanks to the generosity of individual donors and businesses in our community.
