On Thursday, October 20, join Chilliwack Hospice Society for a special presentation as Karen Skillings reads selections from her new book, Love, Loss, New Life: Writing Your Way from Grief to Happiness.Karen Skillings is a Seeker, wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, author, poet, sketcher, carver, kayaker, and reader. She is a retired registered nurse with a 45-year career in hospital wards, community nursing, nursing education, private practice, hospital administration, and curriculum writing. Skillings’ education includes RN, BSN, M.Ed, as well as a Certificate in Therapeutic Touch and Spiritual Direction.
Of Love, Loss, New Life, Skillings says, “This book of my poetry and sketches chronicles my journey through the grief of the death of my soulmate to gratitude and then, surprisingly, happiness. As I wrote and sketched I realized that the words and images welled up from my soul, helped me understand my experience, and moved me forward into healing.”
