On September 24, October 29, and November 26, from 10:30-12:30, Chilliwack Hospice Society is hosting a peer support group for those grieving the death of a sibling. We will explore processing grief using pottery clay as a hands-on medium. See the link below for more info on working with clay.

The group is facilitated by Lucy Fraser, Director of Programs at the Chilliwack Hospice Society and Earla Legault, Hospice volunteer and author of the forthcoming book Living with Adult Sibling Grief. Both are bereaved siblings who facilitated Connecting the Creativity workshop in 2021 and its subsequent sessions for adult siblings.

Following the clay activities, we would like to offer another Sibling Grief Peer Support Group using creative modalities. This group would take place in the new year. Please contact Lucy Fraser at (604) 795-4660 ext 105 or email lucy@chilliwackhospice.org to register or for more info.

Being a member of a support sibling grief group may help you in several ways:

  • Reduce feelings of isolation in a safe, non-judgmental environment
  • Help you discover ways to continue the bond of a sibling
  • Give a voice to your story through hearing the stories of others
  • Learn coping mechanisms from others who walked in similar shoes
