Melanie Green  |  President

Melanie was born and raised in Chilliwack. After school, she returned home to work for the local radio station. She has been working with STAR 98.3 and Rogers Sports & Media for over 25 years and is currently the General Sales Manager. Melanie has been married to her husband Greg, whom she met on holidays in Mexico, since 1992. They have three grown children and she is an avid curler. Melanie is committed to giving back in the community she was raised in and joined the board of Chilliwack Hospice Society in 2020. Of the organization she says, the Hospice Society is a such a wonderful organization that touches and supports so many in our community.

Chris Emery  |  Vice-President

Chris Emery is the Managing Partner of the Murray Honda and Murray Mazda car dealerships in Chilliwack. Originally from South Africa, Chris lived and worked in Lethbridge, AB, for many years before moving to beautiful Chilliwack in 2018.  Chris and his wife Amanda have three young children, a dog and two cats, and love being part of the Chilliwack community. Chris views serving on the Board of Directors for the Chilliwack Hospice Society as just one small way that he can continue to give back to this wonderful community, while working with an organization offering an important service to the people of Chilliwack.

Jacqueline Penner |  Treasurer

Jacqueline was raised in Chilliwack and joined the Hospice board in 2023. As an accountant and business owner, Jacqueline knows the value in having accurate and up-to-date financials. As a wife and mother of two, she knows the value of family. With ease and gratitude she accepted this position, and endeavors to provide the same quality care to her position as the Hospice Society provided her mother-in-law and their family. In tribute to Mom, she is grateful to be able to give back to such an amazing volunteer-led organization.

Tammy Miller |  Secretary

Tammy is a dynamic leader, athlete, and community advocate who brings passion and purpose to everything she does. Currently the Location Manager at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, she has dedicated 16 years to the company, focusing on mentoring her team and helping others grow professionally and personally. Her greatest fulfillment comes from seeing people reach their full potential, knowing she played a role in their journey. She is passionate about her career and feels that it is an absolute privilege to serve the families in her community at such a difficult time. A long-time community volunteer, she brings nearly a decade of hospice experience to the board, including past involvement with the Mission Hospice Society Board of Directors. Tammy is an active Rotarian and incoming president of her club. She has been involved with these organizations for the past nine years, driven by a strong belief in service and compassion.

 

Mike Olson  |  Past President

Mike Olson is the Director of Finance for the District of Hope.  He has worked over 20 years within the accounting industry.   Mike believes that the support provided by the Chilliwack Hospice Society to people when they are at their most vulnerable is essential and joined the Board in 2020.  Mike is married to Julie, and they have two daughters.  In their spare time, they enjoy getting outside as much as possible, which includes yard work, golf, and running.

Jeanette Wishloff  |  Director

Jeanette brings over 25 years of experience working in the human resources field, leadership and organizational development to the Board of Directors. She is passionate about helping people, teams, and communities thrive. Jeanette works for First West Credit Union. Jeanette looks forward to utilizing her skills and past experience in community development to support the goals of Chilliwack Hospice Society and their members. Through many years of working with not-for-profits she has developed a high appreciation for volunteers and the leadership who make a difference in the lives of others.

Thomas Mueller  |  Director

Thomas is a civil litigator with Baker Newby LLP whose practice focus is commercial disputes, power of attorney and estate disputes, real property disputes, and various types of neighbour disputes. However, Thomas is able and willing to provide assistance with any legal issue. Thomas grew up in Chilliwack. He attended university at the University of the Fraser Valley where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2015. Thomas attended law school at the University of Saskatchewan where he earned his Juris Doctor. Thomas joined Baker Newby as an articled student in 2019. He has been practicing law since May 2020. Thomas resides in Chilliwack with his wife, Lindsay, and their two children.

 

Jared Mumford  |  Director

Jared Mumford was born and raised in Chilliwack, moving away in his 20s to Vancouver to start a business, and back to Chilliwack years later to raise his family. He has worked as a lead digital marketing consultant for global brands including Disney Interactive & Doctors without Borders. He is also a musician, and performs weekly in the local Jazz trio “the Rotations” (bass). Jared is a strong believer in giving back through volunteering, and currently sits as chair / president of the following organizations: Chilliwack Healthier Community (co-chair), Downtown Chilliwack Market Society, Chilliwack Central Community School Society, and the Rotary Club of Chilliwack (President Elect).  He is the former Board Chair for School District #33. Jared became aware of the critical services offered at the Chilliwack Hospice Society after his stepson, Hayden Spindler, passed away in 2022. Volunteering on the board is his way of giving back to the Society.

Matthew Peacock |  Director

Matthew moved to Chilliwack in 2001, developing corporate IT systems and helping to develop operational efficiency with three national organizations based out of Canada. He developed customer focused teams and technologies to push them to success. Since then, Matthew has started, grown, and exited two successful businesses of his own, and is currently working on his third.
As a proud dad of two, Matthew shares his free time with non-profit organizations in the community and loves to enjoy the amazing BC outdoors with his family hiking, kayaking, and skiing.

Gordon Penner  |  Director

Gordon Penner grew up in Chilliwack, moving away once when he was young to Barrie, ON, and again for school to the University of Calgary for kinesiology. His wife of 11 years, Cheryl Penner (Harmsen) grew up in Chilliwack as well and they have 2 girls, Georgia and Everlee. He worked at Ascend Fitness for six years and upon starting a family took a position at HUB International as an Account Executive, Employee Benefits. He has worked at HUB International for the past seven years and is currently the Employee Benefits Practice Leader for HUB Canada West. Gordon is currently a Rotarian in the Mt. Cheam Rotary Club. Hospice is something that is near to his heart with his grandmother — who his oldest daughter is named after — spent considerable time at hospice before her passing. Gordon has spent time fundraising and organizing for the Chilliwack Bowls of Hope Society Mike Csoka Memorial Golf Tournament for the past three years. He is also on the Lobster Dinner Committee with the Mt. Cheam Rotary Club. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking with his daughters, cycling, golfing, and skiing.
