Event Details

This event is running from 4 December 2026 until 5 February 2027. It is next occurring on December 4, 2026 6:00 pm

Three special evenings for families navigating grief, featuring favourite films, meaningful conversations, and time together.

Join Chilliwack Hospice Society’s Child & Youth Program for a series of Family Movie Nights created especially for children and families who are grieving the death of someone special in their lives.

Movies can help us explore big feelings, remember the people we love, and discover that we’re not alone in our grief. Through stories of family, friendship, love, and change, these evenings offer a welcoming space to connect with others who understand.

Each Family Movie Night includes a movie screening, snacks, and a guided grief discussion and sharing circle facilitated by our Child & Youth Program team. Children and their grownups are invited to participate, share their experiences, and connect at their own comfort level.

Our Family Movie Night Lineup

🎄 Friday, Dec. 4, 2026 – Elf (2003)

Get into the holiday spirit with Buddy the Elf! This heartwarming comedy explores family, belonging, and finding connection in unexpected places. The holiday season can bring a mixture of joy and sadness when someone special has died, and this evening offers an opportunity to explore those feelings together.

🌟 Friday, Jan. 15, 2027 – Onward (2020)

Join two brothers on a magical adventure as they search for a way to spend one more day with their dad. Onward explores grief, memories, family bonds, and the enduring connections we share with loved ones who have died.

🌈 Friday, Feb. 5, 2027 – Inside Out (2015)

Meet Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust as they help Riley navigate life’s big changes. Inside Out reminds us that every emotion has a purpose and that it’s OK to experience many different feelings, sometimes all at once.
