Event Details

This event is running from 6 July 2026 until 27 July 2026. It is next occurring on July 6, 2026 9:30 am

Chilliwack Hospice Society is offering a new four-week educational workshop series, Meditation & Movement, for adults who are grieving, living with a life-limiting illness, or caring for a person who is dying.

Facilitated by volunteer Robert Henderson, sessions will include simple, supported movements focused on balance, body awareness, and building confidence in movement, along with guided meditation to encourage relaxation and help participants feel grounded for the week ahead. Sessions may include seated, standing, and chair-supported movement.

Meditation & Movement is not an exercise class. In this workshop, Robert brings a calm, grounded approach to meditation and movement, helping participants create space for rest, relaxation and connection with the body during times of grief, illness or caregiving.

The workshop series runs Mondays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., July 6 to 27. Participants must be willing to attend all four sessions.

Pre-registration is required. For more information or to register for this educational workshop, please contact Deanna Fedorkew, Community Education Manager, at (604) 795-4660 or email deanna@chilliwackhospice.org.

This Chilliwack Hospice Society educational workshop is provided free of cost thanks to the generosity of individual donors and businesses in our community.

Meet the Instructor: Robert Henderson

Robert Henderson brings a lifelong commitment to compassionate care, mindfulness and supported movement to Meditation & Movement. Originally from Northern Ireland, Robert moved to Canada in 1971 and spent many years supporting families through his financial planning career, often walking alongside people during times of illness, caregiving, and end of life. His early experiences visiting hospitals with his father helped shape his understanding of presence, care, and compassion.

Robert has pursued training in Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, meditation, breathwork, Reiki, Thai massage, and trauma-informed movement. Since 2020, he has guided regular yoga and meditation sessions for older adults online, with a focus on health, balance, relaxation, and gentle support.
