Relaxation Program for Volunteers
We are excited to offer a new Relaxation Program at the Hospice Centre! The relaxation session format will include a meditation, music and some sort of body work. Please call us at 604 795 4660 for further information and/or to sign up!

Volunteer Meeting:
Tuesday, September 22nd at 7:00 PM at the Hospice Centre. We have a Rabbi coming to speak to us about end of life and the Jewish Faith. That night we will also have a short ceremony to remember the patients and clients who we have worked with and touch our lives during the last seven months. All Volunteers are welcome to attend!

Chilliwack Hospice Volunteer Training

Hospice Training September 18 to October 25, 2008
Saturday afternoons/Thursday evenings

Chilliwack Hospice Society is offering a 30-hour training program for anyone interested in learning more about hospice and/or becoming a Hospice Volunteer. Training will run Saturdays 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. and Thursdays 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

The sessions will cover the topics listed below:
  • Introduction to the personal side of death
  • Listening and empathy
  • Family as a unit of care
  • Spiritual and cultural care
  • Palliative care and total pain management
  • Hospice Palliative care program/panel
  • Grief and bereavement
  • Personal side of grief
  • Volunteer panel/roles and responsibilities of Chilliwack Hospice Volunteers
  • Boundaries/Spirituality/Culture
  • Relaxation Program and Closing

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Chilliwack Hospice Society Volunteer!

We have a great need for volunteers in many different areas:

Office Volunteers are needed in our office on Hodgins Avenue (across from Prospera Arena). Our office is open between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. No experience necessary. As an Office Volunteer you would help us meet deadlines, communicate with Clients and Donors and enable us to work on different projects to meet the needs of our community.

Event Volunteers are key to helping make our fundraising events successful and fun. We have many different opportunities throughout the year. The schedule and times for events vary. Once again, no experience or training is necessary.

Hospice Volunteers will work in the new Cascade Hospice Residence which is scheduled to open shortly.

Hospice Volunteers will work in our new Cascade Lodge Hospice Centre which is scheduled to open in early 2008. Hospice Volunteers will work directly with Clients and their families. We will need volunteers seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and are happy to work with your availability. A six-week (30 hour) course must be completed in order to work in the Hospice. Experience is not necessary.
